STORYLINE:
A crater was left in the ground in central Israel after Iran launched a new barrage of missiles overnight and into Tuesday.
There were no immediate reports of injuries from the strike, which hit Herzliya, north of Tel Aviv.
An Israeli military spokesman said "most" of some 30 missiles fired in Iran’s volley were intercepted, but several made it through air defences.
Iran has retaliated with missiles and drones since Israel began a surprise air campaign against its longtime adversary on Friday.
Israel’s sweeping assault has targeted Iran’s top military leaders, nuclear scientists, uranium enrichment sites and ballistic missile program.
The strikes have killed at least 224 people in Iran and wounded 1,277 since Friday.
So far, 24 people have been killed in Israel and more than 500 wounded in Iran’s responding attacks.
