1. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Debbie Dingell, (D) Michigan:
"They called and said the FBI had – that my name had been on the list but, look, I’m going to keep fighting for the people that I represent. I’m going to keep being a voice for those that want me to make sure their voice is heard at the table. You know… Anybody who knows me knows probably a stupid thing to say right now, I don’t go out with (inaudible), I don’t go out with entourages. I want people to be able to talk to me. And, you know, my chief – I’ve got a great chief – and the sheriff from here, both said to me ‘you just got to be a little more careful’ and they’ve been great because they’re not keeping me from doing what I want to do. And all my state – I talked to everybody here this morning – and we all said ‘no, we’re going to go ahead with this."

2. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Debbie Dingell, (D) Michigan:
"All of us, every single one of us, has to help dial down the level of rhetoric, We are normalizing violence and that’s not OK. We can’t, in our communities, accept that it is OK. We’ve got to stop this hate. We’ve got to stop this division. I’ve always worked for that. I’m going to keep working for that and that’s why I did this town hall. Domestic terrorism, foreign terrorism: they want to terrorize you. We can’t be terrorized."
STORYLINE:
During a town hall in Dexter Michigan, Democratic U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell told reporters how she felt being on Vance Boelter’s lists of targets.
Vance Boelter is accused of posing as a police officer and fatally shooting former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in their home early Saturday in the northern Minneapolis suburbs.
Authorities say he also shot and wounded Sen. John Hoffman, a Democrat, and his wife, Yvette, at their home in a nearby neighborhood. They also said he visited the homes of two other state legislators but did not encounter them, and officials in other states reported Monday that they were on his list of targets.
Dingell told the press that after receiving news that she was on the list she had been told to be more careful.
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said during a news conference that she plans to file first-degree murder charges against Boelter. First-degree murder covers premeditated killings, and the punishment for a conviction is life in prison without parole.
U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson said Boelter planned his attacks carefully, researching intended victims and their families and conducting surveillance of their homes. Authorities have not given a motive for the shootings.
