"Together with my French and British counterparts, as well as the European Union’s foreign affairs representative, we held a phone call with the Iranian Foreign Minister on Monday and made a clear proposal. We, as the E3, remain ready to negotiate a solution. However, Iran must urgently take action. Iran needs to undertake confidence-building and verifiable measures, such as credibly demonstrating that the leadership in Tehran is not pursuing a nuclear weapon. It is never too late to come to the negotiating table, as long as one comes with honest intentions."

STORYLINE:
Germany’s foreign minister has underlined European countries’ willingness to talk to Iran about a solution to the crisis over its nuclear program, but says there needs to be movement from Tehran.
Speaking at a joint news conference with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Johann Wadephul said Wednesday that “it is never too late to come to the negotiating table, if you come with honest intentions.”
He spoke a day after he, his French and British counterparts and the European Union foreign policy chief had a call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Wadephul said the European officials made clear that the European countries – which were part of Iran’s 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers – “still stand ready to negotiate on a solution.”
But he added: “Iran must now move urgently. Iran must take confidence-building and verifiable measures – such as credibly demonstrating that the leadership in Tehran is not pursuing a nuclear weapon."
