"The remarks made by Donald Trump are completely unwarranted, are very hostile. We cannot ignore them. We are vigilant about what Donald Trump is saying. We will put it in our calculations, in our assessments. And, there is a line which, if crossed, there should be a response on our side. And that line will be defined by our relevant authorities, including military forces. And once the red line is crossed, the response will come."

STORYLINE:
A top Iranian diplomat said U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments calling for Iran to surrender after Israel began military action against the Islamic republic are “hostile” and “unwarranted”.
Ali Bahreini, Iran’s ambassador in Geneva, accused the United States of not wanting security in the Middle East, and alluded to Trump’s post Tuesday on social media calling for Iran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER.”
“We cannot ignore them. We are vigilant about what Donald Trump is saying. We will put it in our calculations, in our assessments,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
Speaking to the press at the U.N. offices in Geneva, Bahreini insisted that Iran had repeatedly announced that it has no intention to produce nuclear weapons — a top concern for Israeli authorities.
The ambassador rejected any talk of a “setback” on Iran’s nuclear research and technological activities caused by Israel’s military action.
Bahreini sought to project a defiant message from Tehran and defended its nuclear program as purely peaceful and designed for civilian use at a long-planned news conference with the United Nations press corps in the Swiss city.
“Israel has attacked our country without any reason,” he said, and Iran would respond “on behalf of humanity, because humanity is attacked. International peace and security has been attacked and international order has been attacked.”
The comments came as Israeli warplanes pounded Iran’s capital overnight and into Wednesday, striking a facility used to make uranium centrifuges and another that made missile components, according to the Israeli military, which said Iran’s retaliatory barrages diminish.
Israel is carrying out blistering attacks on Iran’s nuclear program and military sites that began with a surprise bombardment on Friday.
Israel is the only country in the Middle East with nuclear weapons but has never publicly acknowledged them.
A Washington-based Iranian human rights group said at least 585 people, including 239 civilians, have been killed and more than 1,300 wounded.
“Nobody should expect Iran to show any kind of restraint," Bahreini said. “Nobody should expect Iran to be indifferent to its security.”
