"Castel Gandolfo is a small, quaint little town located just about an hour away from Rome overseeing a lake, and it’s the summer residence of the popes. This is where the popes go during the summer to wind down and also reflect, and it’s also a place where incredibly important things for the Catholic Church have happened."

"Pope Leo is going to be going there twice, for a longer period in July, and then again at Ferragosto, an important festivity in Italy in August. And he is not going to be staying where the visitors usually come to the museum. According to the Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni, we know that his part of the apartments will be separated. This means that the museum will continue its activity, which is good news and allows to keep sort of what Pope Francis had started in the past. Now, the Pope will be having general audiences there. He will be saying mass at the Villanova Church and Parish there, and he will be speaking to faithful in the square. It’s a sort of return to what popes had been doing for almost 300 years before Pope Francis."

"First of all, Pope Francis was a workaholic and we all know that he worked really hard. He did not take any summer vacations. He was more of an action pope rather than a contemplative pope. And so when it came to action, he saw this great land in Castel Gandolfo as a place to put that reflection, those thoughts into action. And that’s where the Laudato Si gardens and projects start, which continues to this day even under Pope Leo. And the museum is an opportunity for everyone to go and visit this place."

"Benedict XVI was a very contemplative pope. He loved Castel Gandolfo. He would go there often. And one of his favorite spots there was the sort of part of the garden with a little fountain and has pretty little red fish in it. And the gardeners there say that they would leave a little stash of breadcrumbs for him to pick up and feed the fish because he would spend most of his time in this space."
