And that is why it is so important that we take to the streets again today, especially today, and draw attention to this injustice.”

STORYLINE:
Tens of thousands have flocked to Lisbon Saturday for the 2025 Euro Pride parade.
Participants from all over Europe gathered in Portugal for the event, which is the highlight of Euro Pride week.
Organizers say this Euro Pride is more than a celebration, but also a “shout of resistance” in a time when many members of the community feel targetted.
The manifesto for the event highlighted how across Europe some marches have been forbidden, particularly in Hungary.
Taking in part in the parade and other events of Euro Pride was a Hungarian politician, who was hoping to call attention to the present setbacks and challenges that the community faces in his home country under Viktor Orban’s leadership.
“No matter what our government says, no matter what the police say, we are going to be there a week from now in Budapest," said Dávid Bedő.
"It is very important at a time of oppression to stand up and fight for our freedoms.”
The Hungarian government has argued its policies, including a more recent law and constitutional amendment that effectively ban the popular Budapest Pride event, seek to protect children from what it calls “sexual propaganda.”
