2. Various of British troops on the beach, firing at hidden rebel forces that eventually morphed into the U.S. military
3. British soldier battling a rebel fighter
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Andrew Lyter, Battle of Bunker Hill re-enactor:
"So, in June 1775 in Boston, you had a group of pre-continental army forces that were able to repel three British assaults before they ended up losing this battle. But it was a massive boost for morale and represented sort of this was going to be a long drawn-out war. This could not be solved in committees or parliament or anything of that nature. So I’m providing the naval component of it. So you had a naval blockade of Boston Harbor under the supervision of Admiral (Samuel) Graves. So naval sailors helped with the battle in firing prior to the engagement in an attempt to soften up the fortifications and then landing British troops to climb the heights there."
5. Rebel forces gathering to challenge British troops
6. British troops run on landing at the beach
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Andrew Lyter, Battle of Bunker Hill re-enactor:
"What we’re looking at here, I mean, we have nearly a thousand re-enactors at this event, close to 15,000 public in attendance. And this is sort of looking at that ongoing legacy and commemorating the 250th of our founding. What does that mean today to our nation? We’re in a volatile period, but this is a way that we can really celebrate our heritage and our diverse, really, creation of what became America."
8. Close of a drum being played during the reenactment
9. A rebel sharpshooter firing at British troops at the beach
10. SOUNDBITE (English) Andrew Lyter, Battle of Bunker Hill re-enactor:
"No, this is incredible. I work as a professional historian. I teach history at college and this is really neat to engage with an audience that’s very interested in being here and learning about their history. It’s what it’s all about. If you can make a connection with folks in such a capacity, re-enactors – as we’re coined – are doing our part."

12. British troops firing at rebel forces hiding nearby
13. British troops gather to confront rebel forces
14. SOUNDBITE (English) Tim Rudolph, Battle of Bunker Hill reenactment spectator:
"We just saw the British land behind us in Half Moon Bay simulating some of the landings near Bunker Hill. Of course, we’re here in Gloucester because it’s much too congested at the actual Bunker Hill, but it’s a great reenactment, one of the biggest in Massachusetts of any revolutionary reenactment, and it’s wonderful. It’s the 250th anniversary after the event by a couple weeks."
15. A rebel drummer and flute player performing during the reenactment
16. SOUNDBITE (English) Catherine Rudolph, Battle of Bunker Hill reenactment spectator:
"I think just to say that we are people who enjoy history partly from Massachusetts, partly from the area that we live in, and so marking a historic event like this is important to us."
