Ecuador says one of the country’s most wanted men, José Adolfo Macías, alias "Fito," has been reaptured. The head of the powerful gang "Los Choneros" had escaped in January 2024 from a maximum-security prison in the port city of Guayaquil. Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa is pushing for ‘Fito’s extradition to the US. On Thursday Noboa announced: "We have done our part to proceed with Fito’s extradition to the United States. We are awaiting their response." Noboa is a political ally of US President Trump.
