"We saw a USCIS interviewer, like I said, we passed the first interview for certifying the marriage is real and it seemed like we were passing the second interview. We told him about the removal order when he asked and he went to go tell his supervisor, came back like everything was fine. We finished the interview and he asked us to go wait in the lobby for paperwork regarding our next appointment which was a ploy to get us to wait around for the ICE agents."
Reporter: "And then what happened?"
Clouatre: They arrested my wife. They handcuffed her. They did let me, you know, hug and kiss her goodbye, and they recommended I take her wedding ring just so it doesn’t get stolen or lost."

"It’s just a hell of a way to treat a veteran. That’s all I can say. I don’t think this was intended but it’s what occurred. So because they issued a blanket order to arrest everybody with the final order of removal, now that puts millions of people at risk of being arrested by ICE."

A Marine Corps veteran in Louisiana is speaking out after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained his wife during a routine immigration appointment in New Orleans.
Adrian Clouatre’s wife, Paola, is the mother of a breastfeeding infant and one of tens of thousands of people detained and facing deportation amid the Trump administration’s push for immigration officers to arrest 3,000 people a day.
Directives for strict immigrant enforcement have cast away practices of deference previously afforded to military families, immigration law experts say.
