Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has been suspended from her position by the country’s constitutional court. In a speech following the ruling she apologized to the people and added she would continue to work for the country as a Thai citizen. Calls for her to step down had intensified after a leaked phone conversation with veteran Cambodian politician Hun Sen, in which Shinawatra criticized a commander of the Thai military. Judges voted 7-2 for the suspension. Shinawatra will remain in a different position until the court decides if she committed a breach of ethics.
