STORYLINE:
Recording artist Siri Lee scooped three of the top accolades at the 36th Golden Melody Awards in Taipei on Saturday night.
The artist took awards for the Best Album of the year, Best Female Singer (in Taiwanese dialect) and Best Taiwanese (dialect) Album for her album titled, "Sui."
"I am especially grateful that I create in Taiwan, because this album actually integrates Taiwanese and Mandarin, and also includes the sounds of Spanish, Japanese, and French. This reflects the cultural background and process I have grown up with. Taiwan is a country with a very diverse linguistic and cultural environment,” Lee said backstage to the gathered media.
Recording artist Waa Wei picked up the Best Female Vocalist Award for her album "Ordeal by Pearls."
She compared making the album to going to the rollercoaster of emotions experienced by physically training.
"Actually, this time the album uses a lot of different creative approaches, and then I wanted to challenge different emotions. It’s like I just said, it’s like working out; you definitely have to go through the pain, you definitely have to train, and then you’ll know that feeling," she said.
Recording artist Lu Shih-hsuan (akaTrout Fresh) won the Best Male Vocalist Award category.
Lu’s album does not have an English name, but the translation of the album’s title is “Good sound always comes with attitudes” in Mandarin.
