We agreed on further steps to strengthen Ukraine, increase the pressure on the aggressor and neutralize the Russian threat. Europe faces very serious challenges that require strong decisions. Now is not the time for words, but specific decisions and steps. The German people know, not worse than us, that the struggle for freedom may be long, but if the allies keep the strategic support, freedom wins and the wall falls down. Protection from Russian aggression and the preservation of peace in Europe require strategic endurance and strong decisions. And they also require the leadership of Germany."

"The Russian army is no longer an army of the year 2022. They are also gaining combat experience, they are also using new technologies, tested on the battlefield, and they are advancing in the development of their defense sector and defense industries. And this is a threat, not only for Ukraine, This is a threat to Transatlantic security. We see that they have increased the number of attacks on cities. This has several goals. They are attacking civil objects in order to bring the panic, to influence the mood of our population. In order to prevent this, of course, the key is the air defense system. We are grateful to our German friends for unprecedented assistance in strengthening our air shield. And we continue to count on and hope that we will receive additional systems from our partners. "

STORYLINE:
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on Monday called for stronger European effort and leadership from Germany to confront Russia’s ongoing military aggression, warning that Moscow’s improving tactics pose a danger beyond Ukraine’s borders.
Speaking in Kyiv during a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Sybiha emphasized that the security of Ukraine is closely tied to that of Germany and all of Europe.
“Today, the main topic of our negotiations was, of course, security. Not just the security of Ukraine, but of Germany and the whole of Europe,” he said.
“Europe faces very serious challenges that require strong decisions. Now is not the time for words, but specific decisions and steps," he added.
Sybiha praised Germany’s contribution to Ukraine’s air defense and called for additional systems, as Russia ramps up strikes on civilian areas.
“They are attacking civil objects in order to bring panic, to influence the mood of our population,” he said.
He stressed that the only solution is further strengthening Ukraine’s air shields.
He also warned that Russia’s military is no longer what it was in 2022.
“They are gaining combat experience, using new technologies, and advancing their defense industries. This is a threat not only for Ukraine. This is a threat to Transatlantic security.”
Sybiha concluded by calling for “strategic endurance” and underscored the need for German leadership, stating, “the struggle for freedom may be long, but if the allies keep the strategic support, freedom wins and the wall falls down.”
