6. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Faisal Bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister:
“As for the Iranian nuclear program, Russia was always supportive of the diplomatic solutions in this program and attempted to bring different viewpoints closer. It is important for us to continue on this path that supports reaching solutions which deal with the sources of concerns in the Iranian nuclear program. We also aim to prevent any pretext for the return to (military) force, and to prevent the dragging of our region to an unjustified escalation. We also want to prevent the pushing of the Middle East region towards dangers we don’t need. Therefore, Russia’s role in supporting the negotiation process is important to all our region’s sensitive files.”

In a joint news conference held in Moscow with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Bin Farhan urged Russia to continue its efforts in preventing the "dragging our region to an unjustified escalation".
He also stressed the importance of a return to a "negotiating approach" regarding Iran’s nuclear program, which recently has suffered a blow in its 12-day war with Israel.
