“The Street of Music is an art project that exists in some European countries as well as in Turkey but we wanted this project to exist in the UAE and especially in the Emirates of Fujairah because the Emirate of Fujairah supports art in general and supports informative modern art culture and I think that the project is is focused on art culture and the combination of music in our normal lives. This is why we launched the Street of Music project.”

“The used materials are the same used in the roads. We did not bring any other material that is different from what is available, or the material used for road markers or other things. It is the same, but it is different. The thickness of some of the bump’s materials that exist that give this tone is different from the thickness of the material itself. So, the more different the level, the more the thickness of the bump itself. This is the whole issue.”

“The role of the Academy of Fine Arts is to spread art culture in the society in an effective way and to educate the society on the importance of art culture and to teach it to our children in society. For this reason, we have proposed this project, which is to combine music in our daily lives and to give the audience a good opportunity to encounter this experience using this street to listen to the music as well, Beethoven’s music because we are trying to tell them to always look at different cultures and to get from them the things that benefit us. And we can develop through this project and spread the art culture and take care of other cultures.”

STORYLINE:
LEADIN:
Every driver who takes to the highway leading to the Emirati city of Fujairah is getting a chance to make music, specifically Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
It’s a music making road, embedded with ridges which make symphonic sounds when tyres hit its surface, so drivers literally get to groove to the work by the famous composer.
STORYLINE:
Every driver on this highway is able to make music as they cut through the Hajjar Mountains in remote part of the United Arab Emirates
Listen closely and you’ll hear the distinct tune of composer Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, the Ode to Joy played at celebrations in western nations.
For nearly a kilometre, half a mile along the E84 highway, also known as the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road, motorists in the right-hand lane coming into the city of Fujairah can play the symphony, where the rubber meets the road.
