STORYLINE:
A young male brown bear cub rescued from Albania has been settling into its new life at a wildlife sanctuary in Kosovo.

The cub was put up for sale online for 5,000 Euros ($5,852) by illegal wildlife traders when an animal activist spotted the listing, Taulant Hoxha, a worker at the the sanctuary in Pristina said.

Authorities acted swiftly to rescue the cub, who was found without his mother.

He was then transferred to the Four Paws Bear Sanctuary which specializes in the rehabilitation of abused and orphaned bears.

The sanctuary currently houses over a dozen bears rescued from captivity, illegal ownership, or poor conditions in private zoos.

Hoxha said the cub, named Dori, was in good health.

Dori will now gradually be introduced to the natural environment of the sanctuary.

His case highlights the ongoing threat of illegal wildlife trafficking in Eastern Europe, where bear cubs are often sold as exotic pets or for entertainment purposes.
