"I think, it really starts from the idea of where I want to define what is the purpose of clothing anymore. And it really came from my experience at the Mark Hotel during Met Gala. I was there helping to dress, dressing some of the artists there attending the carpet. And that kind of hits the idea of what it means to be so… when you care so much about looking good and dressing up to attend an event, that really makes me want to do a collection to define that idea. What does it mean like the desire to change? And so I kind of built a collection that’s almost setting in a movie scene. And so as you waking up, you’re getting changed, you’re getting your hair done, you’re getting your makeup done, etc. until the last time, you look in the mirror to kind of play it in the movie scene of the way that we identify fantasy and the desire and the happiness of dressing up."

STORYLINE:
Robert Wun returned to P;aris Couture Week with his Fall-Winter 2025 collection, “Becoming, ”exploring the ritual of dressing on Wednesday morning.

The Hong Kong-born designer said he was inspired for the collection by his experience dressing guests for the Met Gala.

"That really makes me want to do a collection to define that idea, what does it mean like the desire to change? And so I kind of built a collection that’s almost setting in a movie scene. And so as you waking up, you’re getting changed, you’re getting your hair done, you’re getting your makeup done, etc. and the last time, you look in the mirror to kind of play it in the movie scene of the way that we identify fantasy and the desire and the happiness of dressing up," he said backstage.

The designer, whose previous collections have incorporated supernatural and horror elements, kept his unique touch for the latest collection where phantom limbs held up pieces of models outfits, and oversized coats were spattered with undetermined substances in colors of pink, black or white.

Some models wore LED face masks, miming the beauty ritual, while feathered hats, opera latex gloves and long fake nails hinted at the trappings of witchcraft.
