For a second day, Israel has continued its strikes on the southern Syrian city of Sweida, claiming to defend the Druze community there and maintain the area’s demilitarization.
In recent days, Syria’s Druze minority, which is allied with Israel, has been involved in deadly clashes with Sunni Bedouins in Sweida. According to an independent monitor, more than 100 people have been killed in the fighting.
In response to the unrest, the government in Damascus deployed troops to the city.
