So we met in Miami and sit together, like discuss his best memory basically and then we took the data in 2009 when he did this exciting moment in his life, we took his memory as a data, his emotion as a data, meaning his feelings , what he felt, how he felt, why it’s so important to him, and we blend them together to create this unique artwork."

"The project is to me a 50% human, 50% machine collaboration. Of course the data itself is from Messi and I am an artist defining the parameters, the rules, but AI is there as assisting this concept. AI is helping us to push forward what else we can do with the cutting edge technologies. So I believe the future hopefully will be this ethical collaboration with and human and still push forward a human imagination and creativity."

"So of course I mean we sold Refik’s work and Refik has a very, very strong market in the digital art space and contemporary art space. He sort of blends the two, We look at comps and of course there’s the unknown Messi factor you know we don’t at the end of the day. There is an unknown working with Messi working with someone like Messi and his profile , we don’t know what the final outcome is gonna be , but the way we priced it was really looking at Refik’s past sales and evaluating it based on that."

STORYLINE:
Step in to Lionel Messi’s mind.
That is what a new art instillation, a collaboration between Messi and artist Refik Anadol, allows people to do.
Using various AI tools, Anadol created a work that lets people step into Messi’s brain and relive the header that sealed the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final.
"The project started by the idea of like what will happen if Messi’s best memory in his life , the most important moment in his career turns into a new artwork," said Anadol. "We took his memory as a data , his emotion as a data , meaning his feelings , what he felt , how he felt , why it’s so important to him , and we blend them together to create this unique artwork ."
Titled Living Memory: Messi – A Goal in Life, allows people to walk into a room and be totally immersed in the mind of Messi.
The piece is being auctioned off at Christie’s in New York, with a starting bid of 1.5 Million dollars.
