STORYLINE:
Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and visiting European Commission Executive Vice-President for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition Teresa Ribera co-chaired the Sixth EU-China High-Level Environment and Climate Dialogue (HECD) in Beijing on Monday.
The annual dialogue launched in 2020 serves as a key platform to deepen China-EU cooperation on climate and environmental issues under the broader EU-China strategic partnership.
Ahead of the main dialogue, the two had a bilateral meeting at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, where Ding expressed China’s willingness to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-EU diplomatic relations this year as an opportunity to “cement partnership” and “deepen practical cooperation.”
During his opening remarks at the dialogue, Ding emphasized China’s active role in global climate governance and highlighted China’s cooperation with the EU in promoting outcomes at the UN Climate Change Conference in Baku last year.
