STORYLINE:
French President Emmanuel Macron attended a ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe as the country marked Bastille Day on Monday, a day which will also be celebrated with with parades, fireworks, and festivities nationwide.
The holiday marks the 1789 storming of the Bastille prison, a pivotal moment in the French Revolution.
In Paris, 7,000 participants, including troops and armored vehicles, will march along the Champs-Elysees followed by fighter jet flyovers and a drone light show at the Eiffel Tower.
This year, Indonesia is the guest of honor, with its troops joining the parade and deals for French military equipment expected.
