"It doesn’t really matter how I feel, you and I both know and every American knows that our forefathers went through many more natural disasters and man-made disasters than this and they didn’t have bobcats, they didn’t have pickup trucks, they didn’t have people coming by giving you meals throughout the day, and water, and… And they didn’t have volunteers that came by the dozens to help with power tools and bringing generators. And so, who am I to complain at this point in time? It’s tough, but it’s so much better than it could be. I’ve got so much to be grateful for, and everybody along here feels the same way. Thank you to all the people that volunteer when there’s these disasters. Really helps."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Greg Adkins, survivor:
“All of these volunteers. Like Danny and his crew coming down from Texarkana, we’ve got people coming. I had another guy that’s a remediation, restoration expert out of North Texas up north of Dallas. He drove all the way down with his vans and about eight guys. And they did more work. So it’s just tons of people helping out and food, providing tools, providing brooms, squeegees, everything necessary to get these, not just my houses, all of these houses fixed up.”

STORYLINE:
Officials are keeping a wary eye on river levels as some crews resume the search for people still missing after catastrophic flooding pummeled Texas this month.

Officials on Monday also made plans to drain reservoirs as they searched for victims.

The July Fourth floods killed at least 132 people.

Some rescue efforts along the Guadalupe River resumed on Monday after being halted a day earlier due to a new round of heavy rain.

In Kerrville, Greg Adkins wades through the wreckage of his home, still processing the destruction caused by the recent Texas floods. But rather than dwell on the loss, he’s focused on the outpouring of support.

“It doesn’t really matter how I feel, Our forefathers faced worse, Adkins said., adding that they didn’gt have the tools, trucks, or volunteers available now.

"Who am I to complain?”

Volunteers have arrived in the area, helping residents clear debris, deliver food, and rebuild homes.

“So many people are helping, bringing food, tools, brooms, squeegees, everything we need to fix these houses,” he said.

Across Kerrville, that same spirit of generosity continues to shine, as volunteers and neighbors work together to recover.

State officials have said 101 people remain missing, a significant drop from the more than 160 people officials previously said were unaccounted for in Kerr County alone.
