2. SOUNDBITE (English) António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General:
"There is only one way out that is acceptable. That way out that is acceptable means that we have an immediate permanent ceasefire, an immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, and full humanitarian access without any restrictions. And paving the way for a serious political process leading to the two-state solution."

3. SOUNDBITE (English) António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General:
"We all remember what happened in the past with experiences in which full populations had no rights. This is not acceptable. So Israelis and Palestinians are there. It is their land, both Israelis and Palestinians have the right to have a state. I’ve said many times that the denial of the right of the state of Israel to exist was a form of antisemitism, and I’m a strong supporter of that right and of the security of the people of Israel, but my belief is that Israel will only be secure if there is a Palestinian state. And if that Palestinian state has the conditions to live in peace and in security with its Israeli counterparts."

STORYLINE:
In an exclusive interview with Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Guterres told the Associated Press he sees only one way to solve the crisis in Gaza: An immediate ceasefire, a release of all remaining hostages, access for humanitarian relief.
Guterres said: "paving the way for a serious political process leading to the two state solution. Some people say the two state solution is now becoming extremely difficult. Even some saying it’s impossible. But the question is, what is the alternative?”
