STORYLINE:
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro attended a religious service in Brasília on Thursday, after the Supreme Court declined to convert court-imposed precautionary measures into preventive detention.

Bolsonaro arrived at the church accompanied by family members and political allies.

During the service, he listened to a speech by his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, but left without speaking to the press.

The former president has been subject to precautionary measures issued last week by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, including the mandatory use of an electronic ankle monitor and a ban on using social media, for allegedly masterminding a coup plot to remain in office despite his defeat in the 2022 election.

Despite the restrictions, Bolsonaro visited the Chamber of Deputies on Monday, and photos and videos of the visit were posted online.
The incident prompted Justice Moraes to demand clarification regarding the apparent breach of conditions.

Although the Court decided not to order Bolsonaro’s preventive detention, Justice Moraes warned that any further violations would lead to immediate arrest.
