STORYLINE:
An aid ship intercepted by the Israeli military sailed towards the port of Ashdod on Sunday.
The Gaza-bound aid ship of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition was intercepted just before midnight on Saturday.
The 21 activists and journalists on board were detained and all cargo, including baby formula, food, and medicine, were seized, the coalition said.
It accused the military of "violently" intercepting the ship in international waters, about 40 nautical miles from Gaza.
The Israeli military had no immediate comment, but Israel’s Foreign Ministry posted that the navy stopped the vessel and was bringing it to shore.
The ship’s interception came as Israel faces mounting international criticism over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The ship is the second to be stopped by the Israeli military.
