STORYLINE:
The Netherlands has banned two far-right Israeli ministers from entering the country.
The move comes as the European Union considers partially suspending Israel’s access to a science and technology program.
The ban targets National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who support continuing the war in Gaza.
"These are two extremist ministers, which we have seen multiple statements including about ethnic cleansing of the Gaza Strip, ministers that constantly block also specific measures to alleviate humanitarian suffering," said Dutch foreign minister Casper Veldkamp.
"We are saying this war must stop, this catastrophic humanitarian situation has to come to an end now" he added.
The EU’s proposal reflects growing frustration over worsening conditions in Gaza.
The European Commission found Israel’s military actions breached a bilateral agreement.
The Netherlands plans to summon the Israeli ambassador to urge a change in policy and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
