"Zikim area which they (the Israelis) claim is a safe zone, they claim that there’s an eight-hour truce, they claim that aid enters in a natural way but what happens is the opposite. Once a truck enters and arrives in the area they claim is safe, they open fire at random at people’s upper bodies. My relative was shot in the head and the morgue is full (of bodies) and all the injures are in the upper body. There’s fewer injured than dead, can you imagine that? The injured are less than the dead? It should be the opposite but they intend to kill, they intend to commit genocide. Either you die from bullets or die from hunger."

11. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Moataz Harara, head of emergency department at Shifa hospital:
"Last night we received a lot of people who were injured or killed waiting for aid in the northern area of Zikim. Many of the injured and martyrs were brought to the emergency department in the two hours up to midnight. There were many injured and martyrs, as around 600 injured people arrived to Shifa and other hospitals. Most of them were injured by gun shots to the head and chest. There are a lot of martyrs. We saw one whose brain spilled from his head, and many of the injured were in critical condition."

"I went at 2 o’clock. They said the trucks will enter after 2, they will allow it in by then from the crossing and we waited. The whole time we were waiting the Israeli army was shooting towards any moving body. There were a lot of martyrs and injured people. When it got to 8 o’clock they let the trucks in and people ran towards the trucks to get their share of the aid. While people were entering, the army started shooting more and injuring people like crazy."

STORYLINE:
Dozens were killed and hundreds injured on Wednesday and early Thursday in the Zikim crossing area, officials said, where thousands move daily seeking food as they try to get aid from the trucks carrying supplies into the enclave.
At least 91 Palestinians were killed and more than 600 wounded while attempting to get aid in the past 24 hours, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
This includes 54 people killed while awaiting food near the Zikim crossing on Wednesday, the ministry said.
The toll is expected to rise further as many of those killed or wounded were brought to Shifa hospital but also to isolated, smaller hospitals in northern Gaza and have not yet been counted.
"The Israeli army was shooting towards any moving body" said Harby al-Adgham, while receiving treatment on hospital bed at Shifa hospital.
They still hold 50 hostages, including around 20 believed to be alive and held in Gaza.
