STORYLINE:
Dua Lipa is now an official citizen of Kosovo.
The British singer was awarded the honor by the Kosovar president Vjosa Osmani during a ceremony, Thursday.
"Every time I come back to Kosovo, it always feels like coming home," said the singer in a statement. "Receiving citizenship from President Osmani is such an honour and feels like my two sides are now one. It completes the duality I have always had within. I love this country and this means so much to me and my family."
"Welcome back home, Dua!" said Osmani in an official post on X – formerly known as Twitter.
"Dua and Kosovo have always been inseparable," the statement continued. "From the world’s biggest stages to the hearts of millions, she’s carried our story with strength, pride, and grace. She’s pushed boundaries, made history, and reminded the world that greatness begins with knowing who you are and where you come from."

Born to Kosovar Albanian parents in London, Dua Lipa has always leaned into her heritage and supported Kosovar charities and causes.
Her father, musician Dukagjin Lipa, was also present at the ceremony.
In addition to her British citizenship, Lipa also has an Albanian citizenship granted in November 2022.
