Large crowds have gathered for this week’s anti-government protests in Israel — the first since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed plans for a new ground offensive aimed at taking complete control of Gaza’s largest city.
The protests have drawn tens of thousands to the streets across the nation. Demonstrators fear the government’s plans will further escalate the now 22-month war and endanger the lives of hostages.
