"Last summer, we tested the filtration system at scale. We tested it was the equivalent of having, say, one bather in the pool. And we were able to use that data and information to share with the health agencies, but then also scale up the design of our pool. The (health) agencies want to see the testing happen also at full scale. So we’re going to do one more round of testing where the full pool that people would swim in can be tested and then we’ll go from there.""

STORYLINE:
After years of planning, a test section of a proposed floating swimming pool in the East River has arrived. The eight-foot-deep pool on what resembles a floating barge will be equipped with decking and a filtration system.
The 320-ton rectangular shell, a pilot version of the future plus-shaped +POOL, was lowered into the water by crane at the Port of Newark.
“This is essentially the floating platform that the pool will be built,” Kara Meyer, Managing Director of the non-profit Friends of +POOL, said.
