“I talked with my friend Giorgios about the horrific humanitarian conditions. The international community should be ashamed of the tragic situation unfolding in Gaza and the devastating actions being carried out by Israel, without any deterrence from the international society which has reached – as Mr. President of the Republic described yesterday – to the level of genocide through this policy, which is completely rejected.“

“It’s on the international community to intervene as soon as possible to stop this catastrophe and these systematic policies that aim for extermination in Gaza. Our position is clear, and we will continue our sincere efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire agreement and stop the spillage of the blood of the innocent Palestinian people and to work on the release of hostages, prisoners and allowing all aid entering without any conditions. So, what is happening now is a human disaster in every aspect."

“We confirm the holiness of (Saint Catherine’s) Monastery and its sanctity, and we completely reject any compromising of this monastery or its holiness and appreciate the serious efforts that have been made on the part of Egypt and Greece to reach an understanding of the nature of the situation. And we are close to this agreement, and we have reached a milestone and we will soon celebrate this important occasion in our hearts.”

STORYLINE:
Egypt’s foreign minister Badr Abdelatty, on a visit to Greece on Wednesday, described the international response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza as shameful and urged powerful Western nations to increase pressure on Israel during a news conference with his Greek counterpart George Gerapetritis.
Gerapetritis said he had received assurances of Cairo’s continued cooperation on both issues.
