Davis: "Every year, that’s kind of a puzzle piece to put together and whether or not we change it up for season two or not. But the song was something we also had a lot of discussions about because we didn’t want to replicate ‘Outlander.’ We did want it to stand on its own. We talked a lot about Clanadonia, that band, that we’ve used in ‘Outlander’ a little bit with the drum beat and having a little more of that vibe as opposed to, you know, the song. The Skye Boat Song is romantic and — we wanted the blend of two. We wanted the romantic part of it but also the drumbeat energy of it to make it feel a little different and same, we’ve kind of stuck to a similar plan on both shows in terms of showing scenes from the show and and it’s fun to have the fans guess when those scenes are gonna show up or where those scenes are taken from."
