"Death is a taboo topic in our (Slovenian) culture. For sure, it is at least an uncomfortable topic. Nobody wishes to think about it too much, but once you are facing it, once you stare it in the face, someone might even long for it… We need to respect that time as well. And most of all, enable the people to go, leave in a way they wish, so they can keep their dignity."

"All of this is not a case of any kind of murder, which is a malicious act. This law that was just approved talks about the help in ending your own life. So, the patient himself takes the substance that ends his life. Palliative care is, of course, something that is very important, but unfortunately, even at its best, it cannot help all people, and this is why it is in addition to this law."
