“We’re losing the closest people to us everyday. A five-year-old is gone in the blink of an eye, from malnourishment. We are asking for the crossings to open, for the sake of the children. He’s not the first child to die, children are dying every day.”

“Of course there is famine in Gaza, how else did he die? Look at his chest. There is famine, I can’t get him food, there’s no milk, there’s nothing. How can this happen to a five-year-old? There’s no food, there’s nothing.”

“Before the war, when there was adequate food and care, these kids who have chronic illnesses and need special care were doing alright. They could eat, their immune system was ok, they were less exposed to illnesses than they are now. Their life expectancy was in the normal range, but due to malnourishment, these kids are now dying directly because of that.”

"She became malnourished in October of 2024. I noticed her hands and feet were very swollen, so I took her to the European Hospital where they ran some tests and told me she was malnourished."

“Our situation here is really bad. She (Ro’a) changed a lot (here) and I didn’t expect her to stay alive. I could tell it was only a matter of two or three more days.”

“Cases of malnutrition are on the rise. Everyday, lifeless bodies arrive at Nasser Medical Complex and every day, new cases are diagnosed. Just yesterday, the malnutrition clinic identified around 20 cases of severe malnutrition and 10 cases of moderate malnutrition. Everyday, the emergency department receives between five to 10 new cases. The situation is worsening. But the real danger lies with those outside the hospital—those who can’t reach it and arrive as corpses.”
