New Jersey lifeguard Alex Kaus had the scare of her life this summer when she was impaled by a beach umbrella in a freak accident. Speaking exclusively with INSIDE EDITION, Alex said she was on shift at Ashbury Park Beach when the wind lifted her and the umbrella off her stand. “I landed on my feet with the umbrella poking through my back… I said, ‘I think I’ve been impaled,’ just like that.” INSIDE EDITION got the whole story and tagged along for a check-up with Alex’s doctor.
