STORYLINE:
China on Tuesday reaffirmed support for “all efforts conducive to peace” in Ukraine, following high-level talks in Washington between U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and a number of European leaders.
Asked about the gathering at the daily news briefing in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China believed that "dialogue and negotiation" were the only way to resolve the conflict.
On a different subject, Mao said she was “not aware” of a reported Chinese decision to lift restrictions on the export of rare earth to India.
The foreign minister is set to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday before traveling to Pakistan for talks.
