STORYLINE:
British actor Noel Clarke has lost his libel claim against the publisher of the Guardian newspaper over misconduct allegations.

Clarke sued the newspaper’s publisher over articles claiming that numerous women had accused him bullying and sexually inappropriate behaviour.

Lawyers for Clarke – who has denied all allegations – claimed numerous people holding grudges against the actor and director engineered his downfall.

However judge Mrs Justice Steyn disagreed, dismissing Clarke’s claim and saying the newspaper “succeeded in establishing both truth and public interest defences to the libel claim."
