Afghans risk Taliban reprisals as they await German visas promised to them years ago | DW News

Germany is to start admitting Afghan refugees who are living in Pakistan under threat of deportation. Many face an anxious wait for their visa applications to be processed, fearing they’ll be killed by the Taliban if they’re returned to their homeland. The German government promised many Afghans a pathway to obtain protection in Germany after the Taliban seized power in August 2021, though the procedure has been slow for some or terminated for others.
DW met one family in hiding. We have concealed their identities to protect them.
