"According to the information we’re still collecting, there has been two strikes, that killed four journalists and the first one was deliberately targeting via drone, a suicide drone, it was targeting the third floor of a hospital that is known for being a place where journalists work and eight minutes after in a double blast effect, there was a second strike that killed even more people, so that is just one example of a deliberate targeting of journalists. We call on the UN Security Council to gather in emergency to discuss that. Our program is very simple and if there is political will, it could be implemented easily. First we need to evacuate Palestinian journalists that are requiring evacuation. Second we need to enable the opening of the Gaza Strip to the international press and Benjamin Netanyahu has kind of explained that he would be willing to open up more and third we need to end the impunity cycle of crimes committed against Palestinian journalists."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Thibaut Bruttin, Director of Reporters Without Borders (RSF):
"So 200 journalists have been killed since the beginning of the conflict and about 40 of them have been targeted according to the information collected by RSF. Where is it gonna end? Where do we put the limit? Why is the international community so absent? Why is the movement of support toward Palestinian journalists still burgeoning within the media community? I think we need to hear stronger voices to hold Israel accountable. The Israel Defence Forces are deliberately targeting journalists. It’s made possible because of a smear campaign that is partly working, that is partly efficient in trying to say that journalists operating in Gaza are not proper journalists, would not be professional ones. The journalists that we’re talking about today, some of the four ones that have been killed today are journalists that work for Reuters, for AP, for very legitimate professional legacy media."

9. SOUNDBITE (French) Thibaut Bruttin, Director of Reporters Without Borders (RSF):
"It is important to say that more than two hundred journalists have perished since the beginning of the conflict, and according to information from Reporters Without Borders (RSF), more than forty of them have been targeted in strikes. All of this is enabled by a smear campaign orchestrated by the Israeli armed forces. In other words, there is a special unit, as revealed by the investigative media 972, tasked with documenting, investigating, and discrediting journalists. The evidence provided to support the accusations is unreliable. RSF has conducted investigations into this. What is also clear is that this gives the Israeli armed forces a license to kill. The strike being discussed today, which claimed the lives of four journalists and injured others, was a doubly targeted attack. First, a suicide drone, normally equipped with a camera and an explosive charge, crashed into the third floor of the hospital, a historical workplace for journalists. Then, eight minutes later, as rescue teams and other journalists arrived, a second strike occurred."
