Some of the calls even featured gunshots in the background, which made it seem very serious and very real. On Monday alone, law enforcement responded to calls at Arkansas, Northern Arizona University, Iowa State, so many others, University of New Hampshire. At the University of Kentucky , they determined it was a hoax even before an alert could be issued."

"There hoax calls have prompted universities to issue campus-wide texts to run, hide and fight. Students often panic, have rushed into buildings or gone to search for a safe place to hide. Many hunkered down for minutes or hours as they waited for word whether this was indeed an active shooter or a hoax. And the goal here is of swatting as they call it, which sometimes uses caller ID spoofing to disguise numbers, is they, they get authorities, especially SWAT teams to respond to an address."

"At Villanova in Pennsylvania, someone called 911 about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday reporting that there was a shooter at the Villanova Law School building, and that one person was wounded. In that case, the caller included sounds of gunfire, which made it, which made authorities take it very seriouse."
