STORYLINE:
Israeli forces conducted an early morning raid Wednesday in Nablus in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Soldiers fired tear gas from armoured vehicles as young Palestinians hurled stones and tossed the canisters back at the vehicles moving through the city’s main streets.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that at least 25 were being treated after inhaling tear gas, adding that two people were injured including one from rubber bullets.
The incursion on Wednesday came a day after Israeli forces raided a money-exchange business in Ramallah that they said they suspected was being used to transfer funds to militant groups.
Violence in the West Bank has surged during the war in Gaza, with the Israeli military carrying out large-scale operations targeting militants that have killed hundreds of Palestinians and displaced tens of thousands.
There has also been a rise in Israeli settler violence and Palestinian attacks on Israelis.
Israeli forces routinely operate in cities administered by the Palestinian Authority, but daytime raids into downtown are rare.
