Much of the protesters’ frustration stems from cost-of-living issues and corruption | DW News

Indonesia has seen some of the worst violence in over two decades, with no let-up in sight. After days of protests regarding politicians’ benefits, President Prabowo Subianto announced on Sunday that he would revoke some lawmakers’ allowances. However, this reversal has not been enough to dispel widespread dissatisfaction. Several people have been killed in the unrest, and police say that more than 1,200 people have been arrested since the protests began last week.
