"Well, I’m delighted to introduce the Honor Magic V5, a world’s thinnest folding smartphone. And in fact, it’s just 4.1mm thick when you open it. And 8.2mm thick when closed."

"It’s our strongest ever hinge. In fact, we recently just broke the world’s Guinness record of the largest weight ever held from the hinge of the phone. So it’s the strongest hinge that’s literally unbreakable. The second thing we’ve done is ensured that we’ve improved and maximized the waterproofing and the dust proofing. So much so that there’s even a sensor inside the phone that will tell you if a bit of sand or a bit of dust has got into the phone, so you can take it straight back to your friendly network operator and they can check it for you."

"One of the interesting things about the folding smartphone category is that many of us don’t realize why we would want it until we get it in our hands. And what we’re finding here is that the more people actually can touch it, play with it, and experience it. We’re finding that many, many more people are adopting it. So whilst the category has grown from a small base, we actually see that the future in folding is very strong."

"I’m not sure if foldables are set to be the next big thing in mobile really. We still see it as a very niche segment in the market, maybe making up 2% of total smartphone sales. And the growth has not been as electric as had been expected in the past few years. And devices are getting thinner, they’re getting more powerful. But at the price bracket that a lot of foldables are currently placed in, kind of north of £1,500, it’s a very difficult sell to turn that into a mass market product. So we feel it’s unlikely to be a real driver of volume in a smartphone segment in the next couple of years. "

"I think based on the evidence that we’ve seen, they’ve been around for 4 or 5 years now right, and they’re still really only serving a very small section of the market. They are getting better though – so this is not the end of the foldables journey by any stretch. But we just feel that there’s a struggle for them to become the sort of iPhone killer really, because that’s just, there’s not enough about them really."
