70-Year-Old Romance Scam Victim Confronts Suspect After Losing $60K

Carol West thought she’d found love online with who she thought was a retired US Army general. The 70-year-old now realizes she was being set up. They communicated several times a day, and soon the alleged scammer started asking her for money. West gave the swindler $60,000, mainly cash mailed to him in padded envelopes. Cops say Cory Woodall was part of a criminal ring targeting vulnerable folks looking for love. West and a Florida sheriff confronted the alleged scammer.
