1. The Chinese government has announced that President Xi Jinping will attend the BRICS Leaders’ online summit. What are China’s expectations for this meeting?
President Xi Jinping will attend the BRICS Leaders’ online summit on September 8 and engage in in-depth exchanges with leaders of other countries on the current economic environment and multilateral system, BRICS cooperation, and other important issues of mutual interest. China is ready to work with all parties to earnestly practice the BRICS spirit of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation, promote high-quality development of “greater BRICS cooperation,” and jointly build a more just and equitable global governance system, so as to contribute anew to advancing an equal and orderly multi-polar world and inclusive economic globalization that benefits all.
2. The Ukrainian Ambassador to the Philippines stated that a memorandum of understanding in the defense sector is being advanced, and the next step will be to launch joint drone production in the Philippines. How does China view a U.S.-backed warring country seeking to deploy drone production in the Philippines?
China has always believed that cooperation between countries should be conducive to promoting regional peace and stability.
3. We noted that after the earthquake in Afghanistan late at night on August 31, Chinese leaders promptly expressed condolences to the Afghan side, and the Chinese government provided emergency disaster relief assistance. Can you share more details?
The Chinese government has announced an emergency humanitarian aid package worth 50 million RMB to Afghanistan for earthquake relief, including tents, blankets, tarpaulins, food, and other urgently needed supplies. The first batch of supplies was airlifted to Kabul, Afghanistan on September 7, and the remaining batches will arrive in the coming days.
The Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan, Chinese-funded institutions, and associations of Chinese nationals in Afghanistan have all donated funds and supplies. The Red Cross Society of China has also provided cash assistance to the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
Afghanistan is China’s traditionally friendly neighbor and strategic partner. China stands ready to work with Afghanistan to overcome difficulties and deliver all relief supplies to affected areas as soon as possible. We believe that under the leadership of the Afghan government, the Afghan people will unite and overcome the disaster, rebuilding their homes at an early date.
4. On September 7, Japanese Prime Minister and LDP President Shigeru Ishiba held a press conference announcing his resignation. What is China’s comment?
