BYD rolled out its latest vehicle in Munich on Monday — the Seal 6 DM-i Touring.

The plug-in hybrid estate has been designed with European drivers in mind.

“This is a car that represents the best of BYD: engineering, efficiency, and everyday usability," says Lars Bialkowsky, Country Manager for BYD, Germany.

The Seal 6 DM-i is built on BYD’s Super DM platform, combining petrol and electric power for long range and low emissions.

It’s part of the automaker’s push to grow in Europe, especially in Germany.

BYD already sells several electric and hybrid models in Europe.

The new Touring version expands its line-up in a market still dominated by German brands.

Facing growing pressure in their domestic market, Chinese carmakers are turning to Europe in pursuit of profits.

BYD reported it sold about 4.3 million pure electric and hybrid vehicles last year.

In March BYD logged a record 777.1 billion yuan ($107 billion) in revenue last year as its sales of battery electric and hybrid vehicles jumped 40%.

With sleek design and hybrid tech, BYD hopes the Seal 6 can turn more European heads.

IAA Mobility officially opens to press on 8 September and runs until 14 September.
