Super tunnel aims to capture 95% of millions of tonnes of sewage polluting River Thames

Environmentalists are set to judge whether a massive engineering feat to install a giant tunnel deep beneath London’s River Thames has accomplished its aim to clean up the capital city’s polluted waterway. Before work began on the super sewer, there were 60 spills of waste water to the river each year, containing hazardous pathogens like e-coli.
