STORYLINE:
Devastating floods have forced thousands of families from their homes in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province.
Many survivors have taken shelter in government schools and buildings and tents, but rising waters are now threatening those safe places as well.
Many people say food supplies are scarce, with families receiving only one meal a day.
Bilal Ahmed escaped his mud house with his family in a hurry and left everything behind. He said there isn’t enough food for everyone there.
"We get rice for food and we eat once a day, if we ask for more, they say, no, we don’t have much, there a lots of people, we have to feed others too,” Ahmed said.
Rescuers backed by the military evacuated nearly 100,000 people overnight from a central Pakistani city, some of whom described enduring scorching heat in tents and open areas after floodwaters submerged their homes and swept away farmland.
