"I’m somebody who grew up with Christian values as well, so I really resonated. I thought that that’s not always a conversation that everyone gets. If you didn’t grow up in a religious family, maybe you didn’t understand or see the full side or you got a jaded view of religious views and I thought he did a great job of just explaining how religious Christian values have worked and how they can be amazing and great for families. So for me it was as a Christian, it wasn’t about politics, he was for me an innocent religious person who believed in free speech."

STORYLINE:
A memorial for Charlie Kirk has been set up outside Turning Point headquarters in Phoenix.
Kirk was assassinated Wednesday while speaking about social issues at a Utah Valley University campus courtyard.
The circumstances brought renewed attention to the escalating threat of political violence in the United States that in the last several years has cut across the ideological spectrum.
The killing drew bipartisan condemnation, but a national reckoning over ways to prevent political grievances from manifesting as deadly violence seemed elusive.
