The trip was planned well in advance, but current events gave US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Israel a different kind of weight. He met Prime Minister Netanyahu as the Israeli military presses ahead with controversial operations to seize Gaza City.
Netanyahu called Rubio’s visit a clear signal that the US stands with Israel in the face of mounting criticism. In fact, he said, their alliance has never been stronger.
