‘Barbie Beach’ Project Turns Ocean Pink In Santa Monica For Science Experiment

The water off Santa Monica is going pink, and it’s not because a certain blockbuster film is getting a sequel. The reason is more scientific. UCLA is conducting an experiment on the breakwater that was constructed back in 1934. After nearly a century of harsh weather and storms, researchers fear it is no longer protecting the beach as it originally did. They’re using the non-toxic, temporary pink fluorescent dye to track the water’s path. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.
